Poker is a type
of card
games. And this is one of the most famous card game in the
world.
And, of course, this game is played mostly in casinos. In card games
poker a deck with 52 cards is used. Here is the ranking - from low to
high: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack queen, king, ace. And the
ranking between the suits is absent - for example, the ace of hearts
and the ace of spades are absolutely equal. Card games poker can be
played by 5-8 players (sometimes up to 14 players – depends
of
the variation of a card game). There are a few strategies in this game.
First is called – basic strategy of the card games poker. The
main objective of this strategy is to count cards of your opponent and
make the right decision concerning the bet. The second strategy of the
card games poker is to grab the highest cards collection (Royal Flush,
Straight, Flush, three of a kind etc). The third strategy is called
“bluffing”. It’s based on telling lie
during the
game. The main difference of card games poker and its rules from other gambling card games
is that here
for you your skill is much more important than your luck. That's why
many professional players call card games poker "a sport, but not
gambling".
There are many
theories concerning this. But Herbert O. Yardley, who wrote a
famous book about poker in 1957, said, that a novice can win in a short
session
– he may be just lucky. But if a player looses more sessions
than he wins – this is not because he is unlucky –
he is
just
playing with no skill. Many professional players agree with him and
say that card games poker (except bridge card games) are the only
gambling games where winning depends on your skill.
